Dounreay opens market discussions on £90m nuclear decommissioning contracts

The organisation accountable for the clean-up and decommission of the Dounreay fast breeder reactor research site on the north coast of Scotland, Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd (DSRL) is exploring views from potential contractors for the next stages of its deactivating plan.

Looking to appoint a delivery partner organisation to provide project management, construction management, project controls, commercial and contract management services, DRSL is also considering procuring a construction partner to construct headwork facilities required for the 65-metre-deep shaft and silo, coordinate the installation and commission additional equipment. Systems responsible for the M&E of the shaft and silo headwork have and will be procured separately.

The PIN says: “In advance of a potential procurement process, DSRL wishes to engage in a preliminary market consultation with interested parties to obtain their views on how the commercial agreements might be structured to ensure that they are attractive, viable and will deliver value for money.”
